ICLN is proud to announce the winner of the first ICC Trial Competition: Pretoria University from South Africa.

More than 50 students, from 12 universities - coming from 10 countries worldwide, participated in the ICC Trial Competition in The Hague.

After the  preparation of memorials, comprising an extensive analysis of the case on the side of the Prosecutor, Defence Counsel and Judge,

the students came together to compete in the oral rounds. The  preparation period comprised three months and the competition lasted two days,

after which the finals took place on 12 December. The teams from Nalsar University from Hyderabad, India, Osgoode Hall Law School

from York University, Canada and Pretoria University performed in the finals under the scrutiny of three renowned experts: Professor Cherif Bassiouni,

Professor Walter Perron and Professor Michail Wladimiroff.

Experts from the ICTY, ICC, ICRC, Iran-US Claims Tribunal and independent lawyers and Academics assessed the memorials and oral rounds.

They proclaimed to be impressed by the quality of the students' work. We would herewith like to congratulate all students and in particular the

finalist teams with their excellent performance.  It was an honour for ICLN to organise the competition for such enthusiastic and motivated students

and we wish everyone good luck in their future career.
