ICLN is delighted to announce that the overall winner of the third edition of the ICC Trial Competition is Osgoode Hall Law School from Canada! After 5 months of preparation, students from 19 universities across the globe competed in the ICC Trial Competition in The Hague. Prior to the oral rounds in The Hague, the students prepared memorials in the roles of prosecutor, defence counsel and victims’ counsel. The students’ performances in the written and oral rounds were assessed by experts in the field of international criminal law, including judges from the ICC, ICTY, lawyers and academics. The teams from the University of Miami, Yale Law School and Osgoode Hall Law School performed in the finals under the scrutiny of three ICC judges: Judge Monageng, Judge Nsereko and Judge Aluoch.
The award for best victims’ counsel went to National Law University Jodhpur, India. The award for best prosecutor went to the University of Miami, USA. The Wladimiroff best defence counsel award went to Bond University, Australia. The award for best non-native team went to Leiden University, The Netherlands. The award for best memorial went to Osgoode Hall Law School, Canada. The best oralist award went to Ashleigh Light from Bond University, Australia.

2009
ICLN is proud to announce the winner of the second edition of the ICC Trial Competition: Bond University from Australia. Almost 100 students, from 19 universities - coming from 14 countries worldwide, participated in the ICC Trial Competition in The Hague. After the preparation of memorials, comprising an extensive analysis of the case on the side of the Prosecutor, Defence Counsel and Victims counsel, the students came together to compete in the oral rounds. The preparation period comprised five months and the competition lasted four days, after which the finals took place on 20 February. The teams from Yale Law Schoolfrom the US, Utrecht University from The Netherlands and Australia's Bond University performed in the finals under the scrutiny of three renowned experts: Professor Otto Triffterer, Professor Elies van Sliedregt and Judge Alphonse Orie. Experts from the ICTY, ICC, Red Cross, several Ministries and independent lawyers and Academics assessed the memorials and oral rounds. They proclaimed to be impressed by the quality of the students' work. We would herewith like to congratulate all students and in particular the finalist teams with their excellent performance. It was an honour for ICLN to organise the competition for such enthusiastic and motivated students and we wish everyone good luck in their future career.

ICLN is proud to announce the winner of the first ICC Trial Competition: Pretoria University from South Africa. More than 50 students, from 12 universities - coming from 10 countries worldwide, participated in the ICC Trial Competition in The Hague. After the preparation of memorials, comprising an extensive analysis of the case on the side of the Prosecutor, Defence Counsel and Judge, the students came together to compete in the oral rounds. The preparation period comprised three months and the competition lasted two days, after which the finals took place on 12 December. The teams from Nalsar University from Hyderabad, India, Osgoode Hall Law School from York University, Canada and Pretoria University performed in the finals under the scrutiny of three renowned experts: Professor Cherif Bassiouni, Professor Walter Perron and Professor Michail Wladimiroff. Experts from the ICTY, ICC, ICRC, Iran-US Claims Tribunal and independent lawyers and Academics assessed the memorials and oral rounds. They proclaimed to be impressed by the quality of the students' work. We would herewith like to congratulate all students and in particular the finalist teams with their excellent performance.
