ICC-Trial Competition

 

And the winner is……

ICLN is delighted to announce that the overall winner of the third edition of the ICC Trial Competition is Osgoode Hall Law School from Canada!

After 5 months of preparation, students from 19 universities across the globe competed in the ICC Trial Competition in The Hague. Prior to the oral rounds in The Hague, the students prepared memorials in the roles of prosecutor, defence counsel and victims’ counsel. The students’ performances in the written and oral rounds were assessed by experts in the field of international criminal law, including judges from the ICC, ICTY, lawyers and academics.

The teams from the University of Miami, Yale Law School and Osgoode Hall Law School performed in the finals under the scrutiny of three ICC judges: Judge Monageng, Judge Nsereko and Judge Aluoch.

The award for best victims’ counsel went to National Law University Jodhpur, India

The award for best prosecutor went to the University of Miami, USA

The Wladimiroff best defence counsel award went to Bond University, Australia

The award for best non-native team went to Leiden University, The Netherlands

The award for best memorial went to Osgoode Hall Law School, Canada

The best oralist award went to Ashleigh Light from Bond University, Australia
